Etsy shops that is. Yes I finally got around to opening one after many people asked me about doing it.
I’ve only got a few items listed but will be adding more every day. Please visit and leave a comment or favorite it and I will return the favor.
My shop is mostly about fabric with RV and camping themes but I also do finished quilts and gifts.
Add your links in the comments and I’ll visit soon.
We have just finished our summer workamping job at Darien Lakes Amusement Park and while it’s been a learning experience we will not be back. It has it’s pros and cons so it may be a great job for you. There are a lot of perks and the money is not bad, but for us the cons out weighed the pros. If you like quiet, laid back jobs do NOT work at these types of places! They are huge, very fast paced, loud and crowded all the time.
- Nice big RV spaces separate from the public campground surrounding a lake
- Dogs are very welcome
- Full 30 amp hook-ups
- Great people to work with, at least the camphosts
- All hours paid plus your space at no cost
- Some great concerts
- Full free access to the amusement and water park
- Close to major cities and attractions
- Employee cookouts
- Send and receive mail and packages on site
- Campfires allowed in fire-pits
- Not great communication between departments
- Not enough training for camping staff
- Booming fireworks every night at 10 PM
- Many concerts, most are head banging rock type music, going until 11 PM nightly
- Not enough days off
- Hours are not great
- Very long walk to work unless you are camp-hosts
- No gate at the employee campground so the public can drive though and do
- You need a bike, scooter or some other form of transport to get around
- Not enough staff
- RV sites are set up weird so have long cords and hoses
We did not have a totally awful time but if we had been told about some of the events like the constant concerts and nightly fireworks beforehand, we would not have taken the job. I actually had to buy a pair of noise cancelling headphones just so that I could get some rest! We did however make some wonderful new friends, saw some great attractions and most of all, learned new things.
Bottom line is make sure you get all the facts before going to any new Workamping job!! Have you worked at an amusement park? What was your experience like?
Wow what a gem we found on our travels through Pennsylvania! Not far off of the main freeway, quiet, very friendly and they give a military discount!
Camp Wilhelm has nice pull through spaces, a pool, a store with just about everything you’d need, propane, wood for your fire rings, very dog friendly and all reasonably priced.
If you are traveling through this way you can check it out here!
Attica Supermax is huge and imposing. It is the site of the famous riot.
Giant Suit of Armor!
Huge Metal Dragon
Lockport Cave one of the best cave tours we have ever been on!
Old Locks at Erie Canal
Awesome day off from workamping!
Do you take in the local sites where you travel? We find a lot of them using the Roadside America app.
Have you decided to go full-time or even just weekends and find the perfect RV? The inside has everything you want as far as layout, appliances and space but the colors, curtains, blinds and hardware are just not to your taste. What do you do about it other than hire an expensive decorator. My advice, go for it!
Our fifth wheel has a great layout but I hated the dark colors. I love country and shabby chic so I went online for ideas. I found the perfect fabric for the valances and dinette cushions. Yes I redid those by myself with a little help from hubby.
Next it was time to paint. Bruce took down all the cabinet doors then took the hardware off. It took me a little while to find the perfect color because I wanted a paint that was easy to use, would go on in one coat, no stripping of the old paint, no sanding or priming.
It took me about two weekends to do our dining, living room and kitchen areas. I was working pretty much full time at a very busy RV park so couldn’t do it all at once. That paint is really amazing. It is very easy to put on, looks fantastic and is holding up very well to our full-time lifestyle. I did apply a clear sealer over all surfaces so that I could wipe down any spills.
Then I found some easy peel and stick wallpaper for the dinette area. It looks like wood but in a lighter color and I love how simple and quick it was to install. It really made the whole dining room pop!
You can do this. Just go for it! Leave comments and photos of your DIY!!
Crazy people, hard work, no time, trash overflowing, and more! Today we had to do over 200 campsites to get ready for a very large group. 800 reservations including sites, trailers and cabins. Cleaning the sites and fire-pits, picking up tons of trash at over flowing dumpsters and all within just a few hours.
We got it done but gave up our regular lunch time to do it. Just as we got the last row finished they opened the gates and tons of people started flowing in with their crazy questions, silly problems and rude behavior.
How do you handle your job at large parks?
